What makes a blog a blog? Just by using a WordPress or Blogger template, the issue is not resolved. A blog is not simply the sum of many posts. It has something unique that a portal or website will almost never achieve: an identity.
Many posts do not make a blog
There is a group on Linkedin that has nailed it. Giving identity to a blog and at the same time achieving a personal branding effect consists of 4 essential elements.
Blogger: the central figure of the blog. I am aware that there are many good blogs where several authors participate. Maybe I am a bit “old school” because I think that a better digital identity is achieved if you can give a blog a single face. There are australia phone number library exceptions even at the level of corporate blogs. I would highlight the Territorio Creativo blog from which a case could be created on the subject of “blogging is branding”.
Motto
You need something to be recognized. My motto is “Guerrilla Marketing in Web 2.0” which I apply to the world of blogs, entrepreneurs and online marketing. I think it is a motto that is even more popular than I would have expected. At my last talk, people can also a content marketing agency lined up to listen to me just because of the title. In a room of 350 people, there were more than 500 people at the end. I don’t think many of them were blog readers. What attracted people was the motto used as the title of the talk.
Style: It is important that you develop your own style. Don’t use complicated phrases or words. I am “lucky” that my vocabulary is too basic to fall into that trap (I am a “German” with a Spanish passport, I was born and lived almost all aub directory my life in Germany). A simple vocabulary creates a more approachable style. Create your own phrases. Share your enthusiasm and passion. If you want to achieve a digital identity with your blog, you have to give a lot of yourself. People read your blog also because they want to know you.
Content
Content should not be just a sum of words, photos and videos. Daring to create content that no one is looking for is a way to innovate. Your readers may not yet know what is important within the topic they want to learn about. Try to surprise. Going against the grain (with arguments and with meaning) can generate good content and also be part of your own style.
Many posts do not make a blog. You have to find that special touch for your blog. I am on the way to finding the digital identity for mine.
