Principles of effective of all communication can be divided into five types of business communication.

Always know who you are writing to and with whom you are speaking, because that will affect the tone, voice, and quality of your message. You can’t write to the senior CEO of a company the same way you would write to your roommate, and you can’t write to a customer the same way you would write to a senior CEO.

Your message must reflect the age, education level, and goals of your audience. This is only possible if you thoroughly research your audience and look from their perspective.
